Family Abuse Services’ Visitation Center provides an innovative program of monitored exchanges and supervised visitation. The Visitation Center’s mission is to provide healthy and safe relationships with parents and their children by providing a safe environment, free from family conflict.

Kim Biebel, our Visitation Center Director, provides stability, direction and solid presence with her consistent and objective vision of family wellness. The Visitation Center flourishes and benefits our community as a whole because of the commitment to safe and peaceful refuge for children who need access to conflict-free relationship with their parents, no matter what the situation.

What is monitored exchange?

Monitored exchange is supervision of the transfer of the child from one parent to the other. Supervision is limited to the exchange or transfer and leaves only the remaining contact between parent and child unsupervised. The focus is the exchange and transition from one parent to the other. Where typically a child would have to endure the volatile or tense atmosphere and subsequent conflicts when being exchanged from one parent to another for custody or visitation purposes, our program provides neutral ground and no contact between the estranged parents. This gives children freedom to show their true feelings upon departure from one parent and arrival with another and completely eliminates one of the more violence/tension-prone scenarios.

What is supervised visitation?

Supervised visitation is the supervision of visits between non-custodial parents and children when a history of domestic violence, child abuse, or other harmful behavior is present, alleged or undergoing investigation. Supervised visitation provides an opportunity for parents to maintain contact with their children in a safe and neutral setting. Family Abuse Services provides the setting and the supervision for families going through the transitional realities of supervised visitation, enabling parents and children to build and re-build relationships during times of upheaval.
